Shoalhaven City Council is seeking feedback on the Draft Delivery Program, Operational Plan and Budget 2020/21 which includes Council's proposed Fees and Charges.

Shoalhaven City Council is seeking feedback on the Draft Delivery Program, Operational Plan and Budget 2020/21 which includes Council's proposed Fees and Charges.

The draft Plan outlines how Council is working towards achieving the community’s aspirations and long-term vision for our City. Council is delivering infrastructure and services which create a safe and attractive community for people to live, work, stay and play. Council is planning for our future City where sustainable growth, development and environmental protection are managed to provide a unique and relaxed lifestyle

Council is committed to delivering valuable infrastructure and services to the community in 2020/21. We have proposed to invest $120 million in an ambitious capital works program including play equipment, footpaths, roads, car parks, bridges, boating and sports field amenities.

Major projects including:

  • Boongaree Nature Playground Stage 1 in Berry
  • New Sanctuary Point District Library consultation and detailed design
  • Skate park improvements at Ulladulla and Sanctuary Point
  • Croquet courts at Ulladulla Sports Park
  • Far North Collector Road which will reduce congestion and support new Nowra housing developments
  • New Materials Recovery Facility (MRF)
  • New Resource Recovery Facility (RRF)

COVID-19 Assistance Package

To assist local residents during the unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic and to support recovery of the region, Council has endorsed an extensive Financial Relief Package for local businesses, residents, sporting and community groups including:

  • Option of $300 financial relief through reduction in rates and annual charges for property owners
  • Waiving of community hire fees for libraries and gallery for 6 months after restrictions lift
  • Free green waste disposal for additional one month following restrictions lifting
  • Rental fees waiver for all council tenants until 1 October 2020
  • 50 per cent fee waiver of pre DA pre-lodgement fees
  • 50 per cent refund of development contributions for certain new developments
  • Additional Arts Board program funding boost of $25K
  • Community Grants Program boosted by an extra $20K to help communities rebuild and reconnect
  • Fee waivers for Shoalhaven-based group users of swim, sport, fitness facilities.

Disaster Recovery & Resilience

Following the devastating impact of drought, bushfires and floods, Council is working with the community to recover from these disasters and mitigate the impact of these crises now and into the future. The draft Plan also includes new focus actions so that the Shoalhaven can emerge better, stronger and more resilient.
