Shoalhaven City Council has a playground renewal program to upgrade and replace playgrounds in the Shoalhaven area.

As playgrounds come up for renewal, Council will seek feedback from the local community. Community feedback will be used to help guide and inform the design of each playground and what equipment the community would like included, within the set budget.

    The playground replacement at Edwards Avenue (also known as John Berry) Reserve, Bomaderry works are now completed.

    The works included a skytower climbing net, play tower combination unit, swings, inclusive spinner, see saw, inclusive rocker, balance trail, game panels, voice tubes, shade structure, pathways, seating and landscaping.

    The project was co-funded by Shoalhaven City Council and State Government Funding through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

    As part of Shoalhaven City Council's Playground Replacement Program, Council has committed to replacing the Dolphin Reserve at Currarong, Bawley Point Reserve and the Joe Hyam Reserve at North Nowra playgrounds in 2023.

    To ensure that the new playground facility meets the current and future community needs of the community, Council would like to know how you currently use the reserve and what kind of playground equipment you would like to see as part of the playground replacement.

    In October 2019, Council were successfully awarded grant funding from the NSW Government through the Restart NSW Grant Funding – Sustainable Tourism and Infrastructure Package. Incorporated within this grant was funding to develop a Hyams Beach Masterplan. After considerable community consultation and feedback, the Masterplan was adopted by Council on 21 July 2021.

    An upgrade to the existing playground was identified within the Masterplan and is one of the deliverables of the grant deed.

    To ensure the new playground facility meets the current and future community needs of Hyams Beach, we would like to know how you currently use the reserve and what kind of playground equipment you would like to see as part of the playground replacement.

    The playground replacement at Basin View Boat Ramp Reserve, Basin View works are now completed.

    The works included several play equipment items, rubber softfall, concrete pathways and edging, site battering, seating and landscaping.

    The project was co-funded by Shoalhaven City Council and State Government Funding through Round 2 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

    Following extensive community consultation, the Edwards Avenue Reserve, Bomaderry playground replacement is now under construction. See the playground concept design below.

    Construction is due to be completed in May 2022.

    The Sampson Crescent Reserve and Sheraton Reserve, Bomaderry playground replacement tender is expected to be awarded in April 2022. The playground concept design below will be published in due course.

    At Council’s Ordinary meeting on 27 July 2021, it was resolved:

    That Council rename the Playground equipment area in Ellmoos Reserve (adjacent to RSL Building) to the Georgia Fletcher Playground, dedicated to the memory of Georgia Fletcher, subject to any necessary community consultation and parental consent. MIN21.526

    Georgia Fletcher was well known in the Sussex Inlet Community. Sadly, Georgia’s family and the community lost her to an aggressive childhood cancer on 3 June 2021 at the age of 12 years.

    The naming dedication will involve the placement of signage adjacent to the playground which is due for completion by late December 2021.

    Sheraton Reserve is located on Gardenia Crescent, Bomaderry.

    As part of Shoalhaven City Council's Playground Replacement program, Council has pledged to replace the existing playground in 2022.

    The playground currently includes a swing set and a multiuse structure which comprises of a slide and hanging and climbing bars.

    To ensure the new playground facility meets the current and future community needs of Bomaderry, Council would like to know how you currently use the reserve and what kind of playground equipment you would like to see as part of the playground replacement.
