West Moss Vale Road Reserve has been identified as the preferred location for a facility to house the Kangaroo Valley Men’s Shed.

Here’s why:

  1. Suitable land – West Moss Vale Road Reserve has a cleared area at the northern end, which is suitable for community facilities.
  2. Men's shed requirements – room for a building, car park, and for access to electricity and plumbing.
  3. Convenient location – being on Moss Vale Road and within the village, the site is easy to access.

The Kangaroo Valley Men’s Shed’s vision is to:

  • Create a welcoming space to enable peer to peer social opportunities and to support the local community through various project initiatives.

Community Engagement

Consultation with key stakeholders, including directly affected residents and the Kangaroo Valley Community Forum, commenced in January 2024 and concluded in May 2024.

    A location has been identified for a facility to house the Kangaroo Valley Men's Shed.

    At the ordinary council meeting held on 29 July 2024, Council resolved to endorse West Moss Vale Road Reserve as the preferred location for a facility to house the Kangaroo Valley Men's Shed (ref. MIN24.405). The associated report is available to view on our website.

    Background

    Shoalhaven City Council received an enquiry from the Kangaroo Valley Men’s Shed in May 2023. A report was subsequently prepared, which identified West Moss Vale Road as the preferred location for a facility to house the Kangaroo Valley Men’s Shed. This report was deliberated by Council at the ordinary council meeting on 11 December 2023 (ref. MIN23.741), and is available to view on our website.


    Next Steps

    Kangaroo Valley Men's Shed are now in the process of preparing a business case. Following submission of a business case, further work will pause until Council’s financial position improves.

    1. In-Scope: Further coordination between Council officers and representatives of the KV Men’s Shed to determine scope of works and approvals pathways.
    2. Future: Concept design.
    3. Future: Approval pathway (development consent).
    4. Future: Detailed design.
