The plan sets out our commitments and priorities to ensure people of all ages and abilities have fair and equitable access to services, facilities, activities, employment and information in the Shoalhaven.

The document is reviewed every four years in consultation with the community. This process gives us an opportunity to reflect on the outcomes we have achieved and identify areas for improvement.

The DIAP 2026 - 2030 will update and build-upon the 43 actions in the current plan, which was adopted by Council in 2022. As of October 2025, 80 per cent of the actions have been integrated as business-as-usual improvements to Council practice, and 35 of the 43 actions have been completed across the four focus areas:

  • Create positive attitudes and behaviours within the community

  • Create accessible and liveable communities

  • Improving access to our systems and processes

  • Supporting access to meaningful employment

People living with a disability, their families, carers and friends are now invited to share their experiences and ideas about access and inclusion in the Shoalhaven.

The feedback will be used to help update our Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP).

    Get involved:

    • Pick up a printed copy of the survey at Shoalhaven Libraries and Leisure Centres

    • Call us on 1300 293 111 to ask about an accessible version of the survey

Have your say by 7th December 2025.

We will be attending community events and visiting disability service providers, groups, employers and community organisations to seek in-person feedback from members, service users and staff. We want to listen to your experiences and hear your ideas for how we can make Shoalhaven an inclusive place to live, work and play.
