FAQs
Can Council build on, add to or expand the Woollamia Boat Ramp?
This engagement is primarily focused on how we can use what we've got to maximise community benefit. Proposals for upgraded or expanded facilities are best directed through the CISP.
Isn't this just a boat ramp, why all the fuss?
While there are many boat ramps that enable access to Jervis Bay, some facilities at Woollamia exceed those of a typical recreational boat ramp.
It's location in proximity to commercial / industrial facilities, private moorings and the tourism centre of Huskisson combine to create increased and unique demands on the precinct that require careful coordination and management.
Will I still be able to launch my boat?
There are no plans to change arrangements for launching and recovering small private recreational vessels. Access may be temporarily interrupted to keep everyone safe while other activities are accommodated.
Can I still fish from the pontoons?
Fishing is not currently restricted, but subject to anglers giving way to vessels approaching. Feedback received will determine if this needs review.
Can I book in a time to use the boat ramp?
Boat ramp use is first in best dressed, during busy periods users need to line up and wait.
Feedback received about any special requirements will be considered for incorporation into operating procedures.
How long can I leave my boat berthed at the pontoons?
This needs to be determined based on balancing competing needs from various users. Please provide feedback on your specific requirements so they can be considered.
Can I reserve parking spaces at the Woollamia Boat Ramp?
Parking is first in, best dressed. During very busy periods the closest available trailer parking space can become quite distant from the water. Council is particularly interested in special cases where unusual circumstances or requirements may justify alternate arrangements.
