Ward Boundary Adjustment

Shoalhaven City Council is seeking feedback on a proposal to amend the boundaries of Council Wards. Submissions can be made from 11 October to 22 November 2019.

The Shoalhaven City Local Government Area is divided into 3 areas (Wards) for election purposes. Under the Local Government Act Council is required to ensure there is less than 10 per cent variation between the number of electors in each ward. The monitoring of elector numbers has identified a variance of 14.18 per cent.

The proposal outlined on this page is to amend the current boundaries to meet the requirements before the September 2020 Council Elections.

Background

Council recently received a report outlining the requirements to amend the Ward Boundaries and resolved to forward a proposed model which will:

  • align Council’s Wards with the ABS Census Collector Districts;
  • reduce the variance to meet requirements; and,
  • ensure that the boundaries do not split suburbs as has previously been the case.

Written submissions are invited from the public via completion of the attached submission form or in writing addressed to the Chief Executive Officer. Should you require any further information on this project, please contact Sara McMahon on 4429 3268.
