Together We Can Keep Shoalhaven Clean - Winners Announced

Thank you to everyone who took part in Council’s Together We Can Keep Shoalhaven Clean ideas competition. The community shared 42 thoughtful ideas, highlighting local solutions and strong support for reducing illegal dumping across Shoalhaven.

🎉 Our top three idea contributors with most votes are:

  • John67
  • Kim Lee
  • George L

Each winner will receive a $100 Prezzee digital gift card, emailed directly to the address used when submitting their idea.

What happens next?

Several of the most‑supported ideas are already progressing:

  • Eliminate expiry dates on tip vouchers:
Council’s RID Coordinator will progress this idea through the Executive team to explore potential changes.

  • More community awareness on recycling:
Council will work closely with the Waste Team and Shoalhaven’s Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) to develop education content, including Did You Know posts and video interviews explaining what can and can’t be recycled. In parallel, Council is working with TAFE to raise awareness about illegal dumping impacts within relevant trade courses.

  • Lobbying the State Government to reduce the waste levy:
This idea will be raised through the Regional Councils Committee to seek broader support from other councils in order to advocate this to higher levels of government.

All remaining ideas submitted through the campaign remain under consideration and will help inform future strategies and longer‑term planning within available budgets.

Thank you for helping shape a cleaner, more sustainable Shoalhaven — together, we can make a real difference.
