Shoalhaven Indoor Sporting Centre - REF for Proposed Terrace

Council is planning to construct a level terrace from excess excavated materials stored in stockpiles on site, thereby encapsulating low quantities of non-friable asbestos (ACM) with Excavated Natural Material (ENM).

Council considered options regarding the stockpiled materials and have decided to construct this terrace in the vicinity of the stockpile location. Consideration was given to removing the material from site; however, due to the high cost and environmental constraints, the most affordable option is to construct a level terrace adjacent to the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Stadium for recreational use.

The non-friable asbestos material will be encapsulated underneath the terrace as part of the remediation process.

This will result in the development of additional recreational facilities to support the Bomaderry Sporting Precinct that comprises the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre, Artie Smith Oval and nearby Bomaderry Aquatic Centre.
