St Georges Basin Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan now finalised

The St Georges Basin Floodplain Risk Management Study & Plan has now been finalised.
The final reports, recommended management options and supporting flood mapping have been updated to incorporate feedback received during the public exhibition period. Council would like to thank community members and stakeholders who took the time to review the draft documents and provide valuable input.
The completion of this project represents an important step in improving the understanding of flood risk within the St Georges Basin and Sussex Inlet areas and to identify practical measures to manage the flood risk into the future.
The finalised documents can be view under the Document Library and are being presented to the Central Floodplain Risk Management Committee on 17 June 2026 seeking the Committee’s endorsement for Council adoption. Once adopted by Council, the Plan will help inform future flood risk management initiatives, land use planning, and infrastructure decision-making across the catchment.
We will continue to keep the community informed as the Study and Plan progress through the final endorsement and adoption stages.
