Managing Traffic/Congestion in Hyams Beach - Upgrades of Naval College Road and Booderee Avenue Intersection

As you aware Shoalhaven City Council (SCC) has been managing congestion in Hyams Beach at peak times via a manual system of temporary traffic controls. These manual controls will continue over the forthcoming 2019/20 Christmas/January period.

Council is seeking to put in place longer-term solutions and has developed three infrastructure options to better manage traffic:

1. a standard roundabout at the intersection of Naval College Road and Booderee Avenue

2. a large roundabout at the intersection of Naval College Road and Booderee Avenue with slip lane

3. a combination of a roundabout at the intersection of Illowra Lane and a seagull arrangement at the Naval College and Booderee Avenue intersection.

Please see the detailed concept plans, advantages and disadvantages of each option for the consideration of the Hyams Beach Community.

What Happens Next

1. Council representatives will be attending the General Meeting of the HBVA on 23 November 2019.

2. You are encouraged to provide feedback to the HBVA on the three options via email hbvaccb@gmail.com or to the SCC at council@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au.

Note: Please ensure that you quote the relevant reference number (57530E) to make it easier for Council staff to direct your email to the appropriate area in Council.

NOTE PLEASE ENSURE YOU GET YOUR FEEDBACK IN BY FRIDAY 10 JANUARY 2020

3. Responses received by the HBVA and SCC will be shared, collated and summarised as a basis for further discussion and decision making by Council.
