Project Update
Council has been working hard to develop and finalise a number of high priority Coastal Management Programs (CMPs) for the coastline and estuaries of the Shoalhaven. The following CMPs are currently in Stage 4 of the development:
- Lake Conjola - Coastal Management Program (CMP)
- Lower Shoalhaven River CMP
- Sussex Inlet, St Georges Basin, Swan Lake & Berrara Creek CMP
Stage 4 involves the public exhibition of the draft CMP document which encompasses a detailed program of management actions for implementation over the next 10 years. To find out more about the draft CMP for each of the above locations follow the links to the individual Get Involved pages.
The Shoalhaven Open Coast and Jervis Bay CMP was successfully adopted by Council, certified and gazetted under the Coastal Management Act 2016 in September 2024. This CMP covers a study area that includes beaches located along the 165 km of coastline managed by Council - from Shoalhaven Heads in the north, to North Durras in the south. Council is currently waiting to hear the outcome for a number of grants applied for under the Coastal and Estuary Grants Program to implement CMP management actions as part of Stage 5 – Implementation of this CMP.
