Public Art Donation - Alexandra Park, Berry

Consultation has concluded

Shoalhaven City Council has been offered a donation of a set of bronze ducks sculpture for installation at Alexandra Street Park, Berry.

Council is asking the Berry community if they are happy with the sculpture and whether there are any significant reasons that would prevent the installation in the proposed location.

The community can provide feedback from 26 September to 24 October 2019.

Background

A long term resident of Berry is keen to give back to the community they have enjoyed being part of. As a lover and supporter of public art, they have approached Council with the offer of donating a set of bronze ducks to enhance the streetscape and community. These ducks are large and robust, encouraging a sense of whimsy and allowing playful interactions with them. The donor has requested that the sculpture be installed in Alexandra Street Park to celebrate the enjoyment this park has given to the community and visitors to Berry.

Scope and Purpose of the Consultation

Under Council's Public Art Policy, where a work is offered for donation, Council is to undertake consultation with the community to ensure the public artwork is appropriate for the location and is wanted.

Following the consultation period, the feedback will be reviewed and unless serious and significant concerns are raised about the donation and the location, it is the intent to accept this offer of donation.
